It is the largest study of its kind & the first nationwide study completed in over twelve years. More than 1,000 residential facilities in all 50 states participated in the study by returning surveys. Previous research is reviewed; the methods of the study are delineated; & the nationwide results of the survey are presented. The principle contribution of the book lies in its encyclopedic presentation of the structure of residential services in the United States, & the detailed individual descriptions of the residential service delivery system for each state.
